02Who is responsible
IRONLINE and ironlinegame.com are made and run by John Nicholson, an independent developer in Canada. For anything about privacy, including requests to see or delete your information, email john37nicholson@gmail.com.
03The website
Hosting
ironlinegame.com is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives the technical details of each visit (your IP address, browser, the page or file requested and the time) in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare may keep short-lived technical logs of these requests. We do not use them to build a profile of you. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
No cookies, no analytics
The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, social-media or tracking scripts. It does not store anything in your browser.
Fonts
The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google's servers for the font files, and Google receives your IP address and browser details when it does. See Google's privacy policy.
Downloads and video
Screenshots, the trailer and the press kit are served from the same Cloudflare hosting. Downloading or watching them does not ask you for anything.
04The "Get notified" list
If you enter your email address in the "Get notified" form, we keep:
- your email address,
- the date and time you signed up, and
- the country your request came from, as a two-letter code worked out by Cloudflare from your connection. We do not keep your IP address.
Why: only to tell you about IRONLINE, for example when its Steam page opens or when it is released. We rely on your consent, which you give by signing up and can withdraw at any time.
Where it is kept: in Cloudflare's storage (Workers KV) for this site. When you sign up, a short notice containing your email address is also sent to the developer's Gmail inbox through Cloudflare Email Routing, so a copy is held by Google.
Who sees it: only the developer. It is not sold, rented or shared with anyone for marketing.
How long: until you ask to be removed, or until the list is no longer needed for news about IRONLINE, whichever comes first.
Leaving the list: reply to any email we send asking to be removed, or email john37nicholson@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. Your address will be deleted from the list and from the notice emails.
To protect the form from abuse, the number of sign-ups from one connection is limited for a short time. This check uses your IP address while the request is handled and does not store it.
05The game
IRONLINE is a single-player game that runs on your own computer. We checked its code for this policy: it contains no telemetry, analytics, advertising, crash reporting or account system, and it does not send your data to us or to anyone else.
- Saves, settings and progress are stored on your computer, in the game's data folder (for example
%APPDATA%\IRONLINEon Windows,~/Library/Application Support/IRONLINEon macOS,~/.config/IRONLINEon Linux and SteamOS). Save files you export go wherever you choose. - The log file. The game writes a log (
desktop.log) to the same folder to help with troubleshooting. When the game runs through Steam, the log may include your Steam display name and account ID. It stays on your computer; it is only seen by anyone if you choose to send it, for example with a bug report. - Links. If you open a web link from the game, it opens in your own web browser, under that website's policy.
06Steam
IRONLINE is sold and delivered through Steam, run by Valve Corporation. When the game is launched through Steam it connects to the Steam client on your computer so Steam features work. Your purchase, your Steam account, playtime and any Steam features (such as achievements or Steam Cloud saves, where available and turned on) are handled by Valve under Valve's privacy policy. If Steam Cloud is on, Steam copies your save files to Valve's servers.
We receive only the general sales and usage reports Steam gives every developer, which do not identify you personally.
07Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent to emails at any time. Email john37nicholson@gmail.com and you'll get an answer within 30 days.
Your information is handled under Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA). If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have rights under the GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. In Canada, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
The services we use (Cloudflare, Google and Valve) may process data outside your country, including in the United States.
08Children
The "Get notified" list is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, email us and the address will be deleted.
